TRT World is the international television channel founded by TRT and replacing TRT int. Publication language is English. After TRT int, which was opened by TRT in 1990, was closed in May 2009, TRT World replaced the channel and became the channel representing TRT worldwide.
The channel is an English and news channel. TRT World started its test broadcast on May 18, 2015, and resumed normal broadcasting on June 30, 2015. The channel has incorporated experienced screen faces who have worked in channels such as BBC, Bloomberg, CNN and Al Jazeera.
TRT World, which will also include documentary productions similar to National Geographic and Discovery Channel, is considered as an important tool to promote Turkey by the government. Broadcasting via satellite started on October 27, 2015. The aim of the channel is to be an alternative to the BBC, CNN and Al Jazeera English channels. The channel broadcasts live news 24 hours a day, so it is a reference channel. Reuters firm is the news supplier of the channel. Publications are prepared by the central Ankara team.
