The parliamentary television of the German Bundestag is the intra-television channel of the German Bundestag. Parliamentary television was founded in 1991 by resolution of the Bundestag and began broadcasting in 1995 as a parliamentary documentation channel.
All plenary discussions, public meetings and committee meetings are broadcast live, without comment, and in full. Parliamentary television is publicly accessible via the internet and the internet-based TV service "freenet TV connect" as well as via the digital cable network in Berlin and Cologne.
The elders of the ad hoc parliamentary reform commission, the committee and the council for parliamentary television debates, election comments, immunity and rules of procedure go back to the German Bundestag in 1985. In its session on June 19, 1991, the Bundestag decided to set up a federal television broadcaster.
The broadcast on an in-house station began on April 26, 1995 in Bonn with the first plenary session in the own area. With the move from Bonn to Berlin, parliamentary television was also relocated and has been broadcasting from Berlin since 1999. The studio technology is located in the Jakob-Kaiser-Haus in the immediate vicinity of the Reichstag building.
