Newsmax TV is a cable news channel owned by Newsmax Media. The channel broadcasts mainly from the Newsmax studio in New York on Manhattan's East Side, broadcasting a news / debates format throughout the day and night, with documentaries and movies on weekends.
The channel was created by American journalist and CEO of Newsmax, Christopher Ruddy. It was launched on June 16, 2014 to 35 million satellite subscribers via DirecTV and Dish Network. As of May 2019, the network reaches around 75 million wired homes and has a wide availability of digital media players / mobile devices.
Newsmax TV is generally considered to have a conservative outlook, showing many programs hosted by conservative media figures. Its conservative competitors include Fox News Channel, One America News Network and TheBlaze. In an interview with FrontPage magazine, Ruddy said that his network was specifically designed to attract viewers from the heart of the United States and that the network was intended to complement the views that are not typically seen on Fox News Channel by because of their attraction to a wider base of spectators.
