TV Derana is a Sri Lankan special entertainment terrestrial television channel broadcasting in Sri Lanka. Launched on 11 October 2005, it is one of the most popular television networks in the country. The channel focuses heavily on high-end programs that meet the strict expectations of viewers in two world-class socio-economic categories, SEC A and SEC B. TV Derana is Sri Lanka's # 1 television channel, according to LMRB search data as of late 2017. . The channel has maintained this position since March 2017.
TV Derana won 7 awards at the recently completed SLIM (Sri Lanka Marketing Institute) - Nielsen Peoples Awards 2020, including "Television Channel of the Year", "People's Youth Choice Television Channel" and "News Provider of the Year". (Ada Derana). This is the first time a local channel has won so many awards at this prestigious, fully research-based award ceremony. TV Derana won these awards last year and included the top award "Local Brand of the Year".
