CGTN Documentary (formerly CCTV-9 - December 31, 2016) is a Chinese pay television channel operated by the State of China broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) as part of the CGTN group's international channels and broadcasts documentaries in English.
It shared the name "CCTV-9" in Mandarin Chinese with its sister documentary channel. The channel is also known to carry some Mandarin language programs with English subtitles; They broadcast new programs between 19:00 and 23:00 Beijing time and repeat archive programming at other times.
Digital terrestrial television operator TDM broadcasts the channel on channel 74 in Macau.
Digital terrestrial television provider RTHK in Hong Kong was broadcasting the channel as RTHK TV 33 on channel 33, but on May 29, 2017, RTHK began broadcasting CCTV-1 after a short fill.
CCTV is Documentary English and China's first state-level English documentary channel to broadcast worldwide.
