KTTV, VHF 11 virtual and digital channel, is the flagship station of the West Coast, Fox Coast, licensed in Los Angeles, California, United States. The station is owned by Fox Corporation, a subsidiary of Fox Television Stations, as part of a duopoly with MyNetworkTV West Coast flagship KCOP-TV (channel 13). The two stations share studios at the Fox Television Center in West Los Angeles. The KTTV transmitter is located at the top of Mount Wilson.
In some parts of the western United States where it is not possible to receive a Fox station over the air, KTTV is available on satellite TV via DirecTV.
The origins of KTTV can be traced back to December 1946, when the station license and construction license were obtained from the Times Mirror Company, publishers of the Los Angeles Times. It was one of five licenses issued simultaneously by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to parties interested in launching commercial television stations in Los Angeles. In 1948, CBS, which owned KNX Radio, bought a 49% stake in the station and helped complete its construction in exchange for making Channel 11 the Los Angeles television network. KTTV became operational on 1 January 1949 and was initially operated by KTTV, Incorporated, the Times / CBS holding company. The station's first television show was Tournament of Roses Parade , which Channel 11 will broadcast each new year until 1995.
