PAW Patrol is a Canadian computer-animated children's television series created by Keith Chapman. Produced by Spin Master Entertainment with animation provided by Guru Studio. In Canada, the series first airs on TVOKids, which aired previews of the show in August 2013. The series premiered on August 12, 2013 on Nickelodeon in the United States.
The series focuses on a young boy named Ryder, who leads a search and rescue team calling themselves the PAW Patrol. They work together on missions to protect the coastal community of Adventure Bay and the surrounding areas.
Each dog has specific skills based on emergency service professions such as firefighter, police officer and aviation pilot. They all live in kennels that turn into customized vehicles or "puppies" for their mission. It is also equipped with special high-tech backpacks called "puppy packs" that contain tools related to the pup's work.
Spin Master turned the show into a media series and released an ongoing toy line based on it. PAW Patrol toy sales generated millions of dollars in revenue for the company and increased Spin Master's presence in the preschool toy market. The show and its related products have received several awards and nominations from associations such as the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
On February 19, 2020, the series was renewed for an eighth season consisting of 26 half-hour episodes. On February 18, 2021, the series was renewed for a ninth season. On March 24, 2022, the series was renewed for a tenth season. The feature-length feature film PAW Patrol: The Movie was released on August 20, 2021, and its sequel, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, is scheduled to hit theaters on October 13, 2023. An eponymous spin-off series focusing on Rubble is under development and will premiere in 2023.
