WBBJ-TV is an ABC/CBS affiliated television station licensed for virtual channel 7 (UHF digital channel 35) in Jackson, Tennessee, USA. The station is owned by Bahakel Communications, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. WBBJ-TV's studios are on Muse Street in Jackson and its station is on Potts Chapel Road in unincorporated east Madison County.
The station was signed to WDXI-TV, Jackson's first television station, on March 6, 1955. It operated an analog signal on VHF channel 7 and was a CBS affiliate with WDXI radio (1310 AM) owned by Aaron Robinson. Cy Bahakel bought the station in 1966 and changed its call signs to the current WBBJ-TV in 1967 (Robinson's ownership was associated with WDXI radio). Since then, WBBJ has had the longest tenure of any station in Tennessee, outperforming stations in much larger markets in the state.
In January 1967, shortly after Bahakel took over, the network abandoned CBS in favor of ABC (which operated WDXI-TV as a secondary subsidiary for some time); Since then (and until the opening of WBBJ's CBS affiliate channel), Jackson received CBS programming from WREC-TV/WREG-TV in Memphis. Like most stations that operate analog on Channel 7, the station has used various versions of the Circle 7 logo over the years. Since 2003, WBBJ has been using the original ABC proprietary version. Viewers in the area can also watch ABC programming wirelessly in some areas of WATN-TV in Memphis, but that output is not carried by local cable providers.
