Channel 5 (Ukrainian: 5 канал; English: Channel 5) is a television channel in Ukraine, formerly owned by businessman and fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.

The channel was recognized as the first major broadcaster to offer critical coverage of candidate Viktor Yanukovych during the 2004 presidential election. When the government threatened to shut down the canal, all the staff of the canal (late 2004) went on a hunger strike.

According to Ukrainian media watchdog Telekrytyka Kanal 5 and TVi, in mid-May 2010 it was the only remaining TV channel with independent and fair TV news coverage. Poroshenko sold the channel shortly after the anti-oligarchy law passed in November 2021.

In 1995, NBM TV and Radio Company was founded in Chernivtsi. At that time, the priority areas of the company's activity were the regional TV channel NBM and the Western Ukrainian radio network Niko FM. Later, the company obtained broadcast licenses in 12 regions and switched to satellite.

From 1998 to the spring of 2000, TRK NBM cooperated with Intermart Corporation with CJSC MMC-STB, which owns this channel (then the structure of the channel looked like this: 21% controlled STB, 30% - company " Intermart ", and 49% - company " Niko-PR). But it was excluded due to disagreements between the owners of the founders of these partners. After that, the channel was again an independent channel until it was bought by Petro Poroshenko.
