The House - TV is the television station of the Greek Parliament. Administratively, it is an organic unit of the Greek Parliament and reports directly to the President of the Parliament. Its main task is to broadcast the sessions of parliament.
The story of the station begins in 1999, when the Greek State, together with the Greek Parliament, decided to create a channel for the Greek people to watch Greek meetings and plenary sessions live. From July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018, Nielsen Company (GRECE) SA was assigned to serve the measurement of the station's audience with a monthly fee of 500 Euros.
The main purpose of the channel is to give every citizen direct access to the interior of the Greek Parliament. Live broadcasts all sessions of the Parliament and the Parliament's Progress Section. In addition, the works of various permanent parliamentary committees are broadcast on the channel, but are not recorded live.
Since December 2003, when it first aired regularly with a delay of 4 years, the channel's program includes a central newsletter containing all the news from the Greek and international parliaments. There is also information for the European Parliament, with special emphasis on Greek members of parliament.
Its program includes various cultural performances, documentaries of major foreign networks and opera. It also broadcasts foreign and Greek performances and films. The program covers some hours and is not 24 hours. On weekdays it usually starts around 10.00-11.00 in the morning and ends at 01.00 at night, on weekends it starts at 12.00 noon or 18.00 in the afternoon and ends at 02.00 at night.
