DD India is an international government UK news and current affairs channel based in India. The service also targets the overseas market, similar to BBC World News, DW, VOA, NHK World-Japan, RT, and broadcasts via its online and mobile apps with satellite and cable operators around the world. It became a full-fledged English news and current affairs channel in January 2019, followed by parent Prasar Bharati's board decision.
DD India, a public service broadcaster, is the second most watched English news channel in India since 2017, after Republic TV. It was the most watched channel in February 2019, according to the Indian newspaper Live Mint.
In the first quarter of 2019, DD India and Republic TV changed for the most watched channel position in the weekly ratings for English channel news as measured by the BARC India group. Prasar Bharati upgraded DD India channel to DD India HD. DD India HD channel opened on October 3rd, 2020. Now DD India HD channel is also available on DD Free dish DTH.
