The station is owned by Nexstar Media Group. The WDAF-TV studios and transmitter are located on Summit Street in Signal Hill in Kansas City, Missouri. By cable, the station is accessible via Charter Spectrum, Comcast Xfinity and Consolidated Communications 6, as well as through Google Fiber and AT & T U-verse 4. High definition channels are provided on Spectrum 1206 digital channel, Xfinity 805 channel, consolidated channel 640. and U-verse channel 1004.

WDAF-TV also acts as Fox's alternative subsidiary in the St. Joseph market (which borders the designated Kansas City market zone in the north), as the station transmitter emits a city-level signal that reaches St. Joseph and rural areas to central and southern county market. The WDAF previously served as the default NBC station for St. Joseph until it was disconnected from the network in September 1994 (currently NBC programming in St. Joseph is provided by KNPG-LD), and has since been a de facto Fox affiliate on the market.
