Nalia Radio and Television (NRT) claims to be the first independent media network in the Kurdistan region. The company claims to be independent.
It was founded in 2010 by freelance journalists who launched the first independent media network funded by the Nalia company.
Shaswar Abdulwahid Qadir is the owner and founder of Nalia Media Corporation and it was built under the motto "Courage, Balance and Truth".
In the first week after its launch (February 17, 2011), NRT TV burned down but was rebuilt. On October 26, 2013, there was an assassination attempt on Shaswar Abdulwahid Qadir, owner and founder of NRT, in which he survived despite being injured in his leg. Then four more TV channels were added to the group called NRT2, NRT3 (kids), NRT4 and NRT Arabic.
It is headquartered in Sulaymaniyah, Nalia Media Corporation (NMC) and also has offices in Erbil, Baghdad, Brussels, Paris, London, Washington and Diyarbakir.
