REN TV is an all-Russian federal television channel. It was founded in the fall of 1991 as a television company that produced programs for ORT (from December 27, 1991 to March 31, 1995 - Ostankino Channel 1), RTR and NTV. On January 1, 1997, a TV channel was launched under the REN-TV brand (at first it was broadcast with the REN-TV NVS logo). The main shareholder of REN TV is National Media Group (82%). The programs and staff of the TV channel have repeatedly become laureates of the TEFI National Television Award and other professional awards.
Before the change of leadership in 2011, the channel pursued a clearly expressed opposition information policy. The channel's current content consists of programs on alternative history, conspiracy theories and ufology. In 2015, the TV channel received the "Prize for the most harmful pseudoscientific project" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for the dissemination of pseudoscientific information during 2014 (documentary projects are marked).
The motivating part of the award says: “The TV channel actively promotes theories of conspiracy and mistrust of science. Unfounded and fictitious stories are presented under the guise of documentary filmmaking and popularization of science that misleads viewers. "
