CGTN Arabic (Arabic: سي جي تي أن العربية), formerly CCTV-Arabic (Arabic: سي سي تي في العربية) is an Arabic television channel owned by China Global Television Network, a subsidiary of China Central Television.
On 25 July 2009, CCTV opened its Arabic international channel, stating that it aims to establish stronger ties with Arab countries and that the new channel "will serve as an important bridge to strengthen communication and understanding between China and Arab countries".
The free channel reaches the Middle East and North Africa with Arabsat BADR-6 and Nilesat 201, Europe with Eurobird 9 and the Asia-Pacific region with Chinasat 6B. The channel is also broadcast on the official website arabic.cctv.com in traditional and high definition format. CCTV also has plans for a Russian channel. It is open to a potential audience of 300 million in 22 countries via satellite television.
The channel broadcasts entirely in Arabic, with programs from four news categories, stories, entertainment and education. While each program is broadcast six times a day, news reports are updated regularly. The channel will gradually increase the number of programs as it evolves.
