GTV is a free broadcast television network in Indonesia. The program was launched on October 8, 2002. The station broadcasts reality and competition programs as well as Nickelodeon cartoons that make up the programming program. It is owned by Media Nusantara Citra (MNC), which is also owned by RCTI, MNCTV and inews.
Global TV was founded on 22 March 1999 under the name PT Global Investasi Bermutu by a joint venture of ICMI, a government-sponsored Islamic organization, and the International Islamic Science, Technology and Human Resources Forum (IIFTIHAR). The station is designed for the Islamic cause, as well as for education, technology and human development programming -
It would become the first Islamic-focused television channel of its kind in Indonesia (later Bandung-based local MQTV station Global TV in 2006 received a broadcast license from Habibie management on October 25, 1999. However, the station first acquired Global TV ownership shares in 2001 and PT Global Informasi Bermutu changed the name of the company and thus would replace Bimantara Citra (the MNC predecessor) launched SCTV as RCTI's new sister channel.
Global TV started airing on April 1, 2002, initially only broadcasts MTV Indonesia programs such as MTV Most Wanted, MTV Land and MTV Ampuh, Global TV broadcasts 15 hours of transmission programs on the same day between 09:00 and 00:00 WIB, May 1, 2002 , block, broadcasts have been expanded to 17-hour transmission schedules between 07:00 and 00:00 WIB. On 1 June 2002, Global TV started broadcasting 24 hours a day, 24 hours a day. After three years as a broadcaster of MTV Indonesia, on January 15, 2005, Global TV started making its own television shows for 12 hours of broadcast. On the same day, it expanded its coverage to 18 cities in Indonesia.
On October 11, 2017, Global TV was rebranded as GTV for its 15th anniversary. Since November 2017 following the rebranding, GTV has not released any sporting events until 2020.
