iNews (short for Indonesian News) is an Indonesian free television network founded by Media Nusantara Citra.
iNews (Indonesia News) was released as a paid television channel in 2007 as Sun TV. Later in 2009, it obtained a television license from the government to start broadcasting as a free-to-air channel on terrestrial television in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. The channel was launched in these cities as TV3 and advertisements were broadcast.
In 2011, TV3 stopped carrying Sun TV and was acquired by CTV Banten. On September 26, 2011, Sun TV changed its name to Sindo TV, which is part of Sindo Media's synergy with Sindo Trijaya FM and SINDOnews.com.
Three years later, exactly on 23 September 2014, the Indonesian Minister of Communications and Information officially granted a network station license for Sindo TV and broadcast once again with different broadcasts in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. Then, on December 15, 2014, Sindo TV was officially launched as national television at the "Luar Biasa! (Extraordinary!)" Soft Launch event.
Sindo TV officially changed its name to iNews TV after the iNewsmaker Awards on April 6, 2015. Also, the local TV channels under this television network lost their identity and changed their name to "iNews TV" (TV in East Kalimantan except Kaltim).
On 31 October 2017, the word "TV" was removed so it changed its name to inews, coinciding with the launch of a new name for these news programs aired at RCTI, MNCTV and GTV's Indonesia Awards.
