FNTSY Sports Network is a multinational high-end internet television service owned by Sportsgrid Inc. The channel mainly broadcasts sports talk shows related to fantasy sports, including sports radio-style programs and vodcasts. It works as streaming video and internet radio services.
The original owners, Anthem Sports and Entertainment, made plans to launch a fantasy sports TV channel in 2012 when they applied for a Canadian broadcast license for a channel called "The League - Fantasy Sports TV" temporarily with the intention of launching the channel. It is under separate operations in Canada and the United States.
In February 2013, Anthem purchased two fantasy sports analysis websites (RotoExperts and SportsGrid) to support network content. In March 2013, Anthem CEO Leonard Asper told Toronto Star that the channel was expected to launch that September.
He defended the network's concept, "how people could 'How could an entire channel be reserved for golf? But now the Golf Channel is in 82 million homes" and advertisers "jumped out of their chairs" when they learned that the network could appeal to both the traditional "baby boom" demography associated with fantasy sports and the young male population.
