Televisión Canaria is a Spanish free to air television channel for the Canary Islands. The seat and headquarters of TV Canaria is in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The station was founded in the 1980s with the promulgation of Law 8/1984 of the Canary Islands Autonomous Region on Radio and Televisión Canaria. It was first broadcast on August 21, 1999 under the name Televisión Autonómica de Canarias (TVAC), in 2001 the company adopted the simpler name Televisión Canaria and the slogan la nuestra.
The station broadcasts analogue and TDT in the Canary Islands and on TDT in the rest of Spain. TV Canaria also broadcasts three other channels, TV Canaria 2, an online channel called TV Canaria Net, and an international channel called TVCi, which broadcasts in North and South America.
